I find such joy in viewing my sister-in-law's blog. Carrie is an inspiration to me. Her blog acts as a journal and family history all in one. Being as far from my side of the family as I am, it is comforting to go to the computer and receive updates on thier family almost daily. What a lady she is.
I won't even pretend to try to keep up with her.
However, I do want to post this update. Life these days has been hectic, blessed, trying, exhausting, mournful, joyful and all around dizzying. There are so many things to be greatful for. But I find myself so caught up in the hectic pace that I often fail to recognize the blessings God has given me.
My two sons are so very important to me. This month's Ensign has a beautiful picture of Timothy being taught the scriptures by his mother. In the picture the little boy looks so much like Zachary my heart was captured. It reminded me how very vital it is for me to teach the gospel to my boys. Our primary president has been encouraging the children to read from the scriptures daily. The boys and I have started to do this every night before they go to bed. I love to hear thier voices calling me to come read with them. We have truly felt the spirit. I find as I explain the passages to them, my understanding of the scriptures grows. There is a new depth to them.
Yesterday my husband was called to be the 1st councilor in the branch presidency. We are both anxious about this new calling. Please pray for us, and him especially as he gets used to the new responsibility.
Dennis' brother died suddenly in an accident three years ago. My brother died four months ago. Dennis' sister is battling leukemia, she came out of remission recently, which means a lot more chemo then bone marrow transplants. Dennis' father just went into the nursing home. His mom is selling her house to move closer to both Anita and Dad. Dennis' brother Eddie has practically left the family. He refuses to make contact.
Life isn't always easy. We both struggle with depression lately. But we love eachother. We love our little family unit. We sacrifice for eachother. We depend on eachother.
I love you all family!!
You are doing AWESOME! I have been holding on to a quote from the General RS President when she spoke at a Regional Stake Conference. She said "You are doing better than you think you are doing!" When I heard that tears literally came to my eyes. I needed that so much! She then went on to say that we can always to better, which is true, but that we are all doing amazing things in our lives. So "You are doing better than you think you are doing". I am so glad someone follows my blog. It means alot! Love you too!
ReplyDeleteIf you knew how wonderful you were doing, it would blow you away! You guys are an inspiration to me. Please know that our love for you is an unfailing constant. You are always in our thoughts. I miss each on of you. Celebrate the victories every day-it seems lame-do it anyway. One by one. This tends to lift me. I love you.-JJ
ReplyDeletewe are all in this boat together arent we. I'm so sorry for the hardships going on in Dennis' family. I love you so much!
ReplyDeleteHi Heather. This is Bonnie (Alba) Dobson, remember me? I spoke to your dad several months ago and he mentioned some of you guys were bloggers and we exchanged blogs. I hope you don't mind. I've enjoyed seeing how everyone's families have grown. I have five kids of my own...can you believe that?...i can't sometimes. Its a blessing though. I agree with what you say about Carrie's blog...it is an inspiration for me lately as well...even her comment on this post is uplifting. You know it's interesting how just when you think your lot in life is difficult you hear someone else's problems and you realize Heavenly Father isn't just picking on you...everyone else is right there with you. Struggling in their own way and dealing with their own hardship and sometimes going through the same things you are. It makes one feel more connected to the world. Its important to remember though that crazy as it may seem we are going through all of these challenges for a reason...and perhaps sometime soon The Lord will fill us in own what those reasons are.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry your family is going through so many things right now. We will keep you in our prayers. Congratulations to Dennis on the calling...the Lord knows what he's doing when he calls people to lead his sheep. You know you're right when you say life isn't easy but at the same time it's so beautiful too. Like those moments you and the boys read the scriptures...priceless memories...for you and them. Well i hope things go better for your family. If you would like check out our blog. Familiagbialiforever.blogspot.com
